Description

GyPSy Guide GPS driving tour of the Road to Hana is an excellent way to enjoy a sightseeing trip on Maui’s most famous drive. There are 140+ audio points that play automatically, featuring what to see, stories, tips and advice. All the benefits of a guided tour, the freedom to drive yourself. TOUR GUIDE AS YOU DRIVE THE ROAD TO HANA If you like driving yourself when you go sightseeing, GyPSy Guide™ tour apps allow you to enjoy a guided tour experience while remaining totally independent. By driving yourself, you'll be able to get from place to place faster, see more things and not be tied to anyone else's schedule. DON'T MISS OUT ON THE BEST SIGHTS AND STORIES The tour apps use your device’s location abilities to play the commentary AUTOMATICALLY. No cell network signal is needed while driving. All you have to do is drive, listen and decide which places you want to stop at (and those you might decide to skip). Our tour guides have created an insightful and entertaining tour for the Road to Hana on Maui. We’ll recommend the best places to experience along the way and some great locations that most visitors will drive by. There’s so much to see and do, GyPSy will help you prioritize what suits you best and make sure you don’t miss a thing. PLAYS AUTOMATICALLY GyPSy Guide knows where you are and which direction you are heading, and plays commentary automatically about the things you are seeing, plus stories and tips and advice. EXPLORE LIKE A LOCAL It’s just like having a local friend to show you around. And that friend just happens to be a professional tour guide. GREAT VALUE The same information you would get on a bus tour or from a guide book, for just a fraction of the price. And you control the itinerary and schedule. WORKS OFFLINE No data, cellular or even wireless network connection needed while touring. Download over Wi-Fi before you tour. Anyone can use them with no need for roaming data – even visiting from another country. DRIVING TOUR ROUTE This tour includes the most popular sightseeing stops and many more: 1) Ho'okipa Beach Park 2) Ke'anae 3) Wai'anapanapa Park 4) Hana 5) Hamoa Beach 6) Wailua Falls 7) Seven Sacred Pools at Kipahulu plus many more great scenic stops. We recommend giving yourself a full day to drive the Road to Hana and start as early as you can. The tour is structured so that we concentrate on sightseeing as we drive towards Hana. Most people want to drive back without stopping, so we have all different commentary and stories for the drive back that will entertain you and pass the time more quickly. Beware of suggestions that recommend going “the back way”. You are most likely going to be in a rental car. All the major rental car companies prohibit their cars being taken on the “back side” of Haleakala. NOTES Download the app on Wi-Fi from your network at home or use any free Wi-Fi network. Because the app is filled with audio commentary and maps, its larger than "normal" apps. Many phone/data networks may block the download because of size - so its important to download over a Wi-Fi network. ++ Continued use of GPS running in the background increases battery usage - we strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. This is much better than simply plugging into the USB port in a vehicle. ** iPad users - please note that WiFi-only iPads will not activate the commentary automatically. Any iPhone or network-capable iPad (WiFi + Cellular - whether you have a network connection or not) will work just fine. ABOUT US GyPSy Guide™ produce award winning audio tours along scenic drives around the world. Enjoyed by travelers who prefer to set their own pace and itinerary on vacation, but enjoy a fun, informative and educational guided experience. Our goal is to provide a great introduction to the region and perhaps inspire you to learn more and return. None of our apps include paid advertising or placements for benefit.

I read a review on Trip Advisor to download this app before going- SO HAPPY I DID!! The road is curvy/anxious enough, but with this guide you do not need to worry about missing ANY sights! They lay it all out for you and have the top 5 spots that are MUSTS that are AWESOME recommendations!! Made our self-guided trip to Hana a 12/10!!!

We just did the Road to Hana yesterday and this app made it sooooo much easier!! We named our guide’s voice (through the app) Jeffery. We kept saying how much we LOVED Jeffery! Don’t question 5.00, it’s the best 5 bucks spent! Made the trip great!

This app literally made the trip. I was amazed by how it tracked us even without cell service. The man who is the voice over was outstanding and after 10 hours of hearing his soothing voice we were oddly attached and sad to hear him tell us it was the end of the tour. Loved it! Thank you!!
  • Wow. Great App!! We loved him!

Have done the Road to Hana before. Just used this app for our second time. Wow, so much better with this app. The narrator and stories were awesome. Highly recommend it. Genuinely can’t wait to use for another trip.

What a great way to drive the Road to Hana! The guide tells you what is coming up so you have enough time to decide whether or not you want to stop. Very informative and extremely helpful! We would have missed a lot or wasted a lot of time if we wouldn’t have had this app! Thanks for the good work!!

We were feeling a little silly to purchase this at first but so glad we did! So much better than trying to read a map for all the neat spots or trying to keep an eye out for where we were supposed to turn for a cool spot. The guide gives plenty of notice before the neat stop offs and it was so helpful that was what we enjoyed most. Then on the return the historical knowledge given was really neat and fun. I will look into using this app for other trips in the future!

Glad we used this. On one hand, it was great at pointing out great places to stop with beautiful views we probably would have otherwise missed. On the other hand, there were several times there was so much commentary it talked right through the turn off we were looking for and we missed it. I would certainly recommend it. Just be prepared for a last second turn, or be prepared to turn around if you wanted to see that particular spot.
  • This app is a must if you’re going to Hana!

Me and my family loved this app! Now I’m not the type of person to ever pay $6 for an app, but trust me it’s so worth it. It worked perfectly for us and we really felt like we made the most of our trip to Hana. Hana road seemed totally overwhelming, especially since it would be so easy to drive past something amazing without even noticing. This app did an awesome job of letting us know what we needed to see, what we could probably skip, and lots of awesome info about each place. There was so much we would have missed had it not been for our guide. Every side adventure is well worth a small detour. It was just like having a tour guide in our car but we were free to go at our own pace and did just what interested us. On the way back we got awesome commentary about the history of Hawaii. If I could give more stars I would.
  • So worth it!

Typically I am loathe to pay for apps, but now that we’ve done the road to Hana using the GyPSy guide, I’m sure it’s worth more than $5.99! There were a few points that we missed the turn-off bc it was too subtle but for the most part this was a hugely helpful guide and we were able to see the major highlights. I loved the info on Hawaiian history on the road back. We left suuuuper early in the morning which helped us avoid crowds at the vistas and hikes, but some things weren’t open that early like the Garden of Eden and the food places in Nahiku. We packed food so it wasn’t a problem.
  • Great Tour Guide
